Snow covered mountains await you in the Carinthian mountains and valleys.
Alpine skiing, at Nassfeld and Drielanderech or the smaller ski area of Weisbriach
Cross Country skiing with over 300km of trails.
You could even try ice skating, every winter Lake Weissensee freezes over. Take a leisurely skate around the lake, speed skate or play ice hockey .
Summer
Hiking, with over 1000 km
of marked paths.
Biking with 150 km of trails. Mountain biking with 800 km of paths.
You could even try Nordic walking or go jogging.
There is even gliding from the airstrip in Notsch or take a canoe trip on the River Gail (which can be arranged locally).
You could even visit the southern lakes of Worthersee & Ossiachersee, nearer is Pressegersee, were you can swim in the warm water.
Shopping
Villach, 30 km, large second city of Carinthia.
Hermagor, a small Austrian town for eating, drinking & cafe culture.
You could even visit Italy, for cheap wines and Slovenia.
Or even Venice approx 2½ hours away.
Historian buffs will have lots to see. Don’t forget your camera as there is a picture round every corner.
